Get Involved
The best way to get involved is to join a committee! Committees meet every other week on Mondays, at 8:30 pm, over Zoom. Check out our committees below!
Government Relations Committee
In the Government Relations Committee, you'll have a chance to learn more about the inner workings of government. We work on power mapping (understanding how to get the support of policymakers), lobbying skills, and preparing our bill to enter the Maryland General Assembly, our state's legislative body.
Environmental Justice & Inclusion Committee
The EJ&I Committee focuses on making sure MSCAC is not only inclusive, but centers the voices of underserved and underrepresented groups. Climate change is a social justice issue, and we want to make sure we are tacking these problems from every angle. We work to make sure that the FUTURE Act centers environmental justice and constantly try to improve our efforts. We often do outreach to organizations, research on environmental justice topics, and have discussions where everyone can be heard safely. Our goals for this year are to focus on outreach to grassroots organizations so that we can incorporate as many voices into our plan as possible and to host events where people can consistently learn about EJ.
Coalition Building and Endorsments
The CB&EÂ Committee is responsible for creating relationships with organizations. This looks like reaching out to let them know about the FUTURE Act, partnering with organizations for events, and meeting with organizations to answer any questions they have. The committee also is responsible for getting endorsements for the bill, helping endorsers submit testimony, and working with them in other capacities. The committee also complies and distributes the newsletter!
Visibility Committee
The Visibility Committee works to create a brand for our campaign. On our social media, we aim to share our goals to people both within and outside our organization. As a member, you'll advertise for events, educate our members and the public, and continue to expand MSCAC's outreach.
Other Opportunities to Get Involved

We are also looking for campus delegates from Coppin State, Frostburg, University of Baltimore, Bowie State, University of Maryland Global Campus, and University of Maryland, Baltimore. If you're interested in a leadership position, this would be a great way to gain experience in organizing and advocacy.

We also hold events open to everyone such as lobby trainings, educational panels, and volunteer opportunities within the community. Click the link below to get on our newsletter list, and we'll contact you soon to help you find a place in our organization!
